Grab some friends and explore Botswana’s dining scene, from Portuguese, Brazilian to tantalizing traditional cuisine..

Caravela Portuguese Restaurant

A unique dining experience in Gaborone, centrally located in the heart of the city in a quiet residential neighborhood. Caravela offers three distinct dining areas to choose from – a gorgeous outdoor garden to enjoy summertime lunch and quiet evening dinners, a bar dining area with a casual ambiance and warm fire in the winter months and an inside, air-conditioned dining area for those business meals or special occasions. Portuguese cuisine is served with seafood being the house specialty. The menu is varied with choices of beef, pork, chicken, lamb and vegetarian offerings. Main entree prices begin at P69. All food is prepared fresh on site and may be customized to your individual tastes and diet. Large groups can be accommodated with quick service for those needing to return to the office. Take away food may be ordered as well as platters for office meetings. Friendly service in a comfortable atmosphere.

Sanitas Restaurant

One of my favourite treats while in Gaborone, Botswana, was to walk around the Sanitas Nursery while my food was being prepared at the Sanitas Restaurant. The food is excellent, service prompt and friendly and best of all, they have a wide range of gluten-free dishes, including delicious pizza.

Bull & Bush Pub

If you are visiting the Gaborone area and you feel like steak, barbequed meat or shooting some pool whilst enjoying an ice cold beer or the beverage of your choice, be sure to visit Bull & Bush Pub. You can either relax in the dining area, visit one of the two bars or go to the pool lounge. They pride themselves in having the best pizza in town, but there is a lot to choose from on their extensive menu and they also offer vegetarian dishes. From Monday to Sunday, they are open from 11:00am to 11:00pm, so go grab yourself a brunch, lunch or dinner.

Mokolodi Restaurant

The Mokolodi nature reserve restaurant offers an extensive variety of imported wines and is an ideal meeting place for guests seeking to meet new friends or unwind after a long day in the city.

The landmark Mokolodi Restaurant is located a stone throws away at the Mokolodi Nature Reserve where they serve an a la carte menu and offer a full service bar. Far from the cities hustle and brustle, guests can enjoy a meal under the starts or in the cool oudoor area. With a range of activities to select from such as giraffe tracking, night drives and brunch champagne no other establishment offers the same ambiance.  A game drive followed by a bush braai would be the perfect outing for family and friends.

Chutney Restaurant Gaborone

Chutney Restaurant specialises in South Indian cuisine although they do serve a mix of indian and chinese dishes. Food is regarded highly amongst locals and international travellers alike and is an ideal place for both meat lovers and vegetarians with a large number of dishes to chose from. The restaurant has plain decor with a clinical feel as is the case in most indian restaurants although I find it does lack some warmth and is not the best choice for a romantic dinner. The restaurant offers both sit down and take away meals at reasonable prices and has a bar as well. Chutney now has a restaurant in both Maun and Gaborone for all your curry needs!

If you are looking to enjoy an Italian meal in Maun then Il Pomodoro is the place to be. The owners are from Italy and offer authentic italian dishes and what is said to be the best pizza in town. Nevertheless this should not stop you from enjoying a sit in meal or take away or even hire them for catering services. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner.

Marc’s Eatery is a collaboration between two people who share a love for food and decided to turn their passion into a business. Their aim was to raise the bar and create a place that offers both good quality food as well as service which is how the restaurant and deli is run to this day. The venue is located roughly 3km away from the town centre and has a relaxed, homely atmosphere, offering an oasis for visitors in the hot and dusty Maun. All food is made from scratch using as much local produce as possible to support the community and providing sophisticated meals in an informal setting. They have also opened a Deli, which is an extension of the restaurant offering to take-away home-made meals and also sell delicious breads and deserts. Should you be heading out onto a long drive you can also consider their services to make a delicious picnic to have en-route. Marc’s Eatery offers something for everyone’s palate and is an ideal place for a meal whilst in Maun.
