A former Miss Liberia, Leda takes us along on her great escape to Cote d’Ivoire

Hello, fellow travel enthusiasts! I’m Leda Renee, and I’m excited to share my whirlwind adventure in the vibrant city of Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

As soon as I touched down, Abidjan’s charm captivated me. While French is the main language, communication flowed easily thanks to friendly locals and handy translation apps. Their warmth turned every moment into a delightful experience.

The Five Star Noom Hotel in Abidjan

I stayed at the Noom Hotel, a luxurious five-star retreat in Plateau, the city’s bustling heart. With stunning views from the infinity pool and exceptional service, it was the perfect sanctuary after a day of exploration.

The art deco Bushman Café is the perfect spot for authentic Ivorian cuisine

Now, let’s talk about the food! Côte d’Ivoire is a gastronomic treasure trove. I indulged in local favorites like Attiéké with fish and Alloco with chicken, and also enjoyed a variety of international options, including mouthwatering chicken quesadillas. A highlight was dining at The Bushman Café, where art meets cuisine, creating a feast for both the eyes and palate.

Enjoying golfing at the posh Ivoire Golf Club

Between savoring local dishes and unwinding by the pool with refreshing cocktails, I made time for adventure. As a golf enthusiast, I couldn’t miss the Ivoire Golf Club. This multifaceted resort offers not only an excellent course but also oversized pools, diverse sports activities, and fantastic dining options—plus the chance to catch live concerts.

Ivorians are excellent craftsmen and one can find a rich assortment of artifacts to buy.

For souvenirs, I explored a local arts and crafts market filled with unique finds, from colorful keychains to intricate sculptures. I couldn’t resist bringing home a gorgeous handmade African wall art piece in vibrant pink.

But the highlight? Abidjan’s electric nightlife. I kicked off the evening at the rooftop lounge of the Ivoire Trade Center, enjoying the laid-back atmosphere before heading to Bloom Bar. This lively club comes alive around 2 am, where the infectious energy of Ivorian dance and music keeps the party going all night long.

Before I wrap up, here are my top three tips for a fabulous trip to Abidjan:

  1. Stay Connected: Grab a local SIM card to keep communication costs down, unless you have a solid roaming plan.
  2. Get Around: Renting a car allows for easy exploration, but Uber and Yango are excellent local alternatives.
  3. Pick Your Perfect Stay: Abidjan has a range of accommodation options, so choose one that fits your style and budget.

I had an unforgettable experience in Abidjan, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. If you’re seeking a city filled with delicious cuisine, welcoming locals, and an exhilarating nightlife, make sure Abidjan tops your travel list. Salut!
